Barnegat's traditional village core follows Main Street and East Bay Avenue. It preserves the community's eighteenth- and nineteenth-century history, including religious, residential and commercial buildings connected with farming, seafaring, fishing and boat building.

Current dock hours: Township code provides for 5 a.m.–11 p.m. from March 1 through November 30 and 7 a.m.–9 p.m. from December 1 through February 28, subject to changes based on conditions and Township action.
Barnegat Bathing Beach & Meadowedge Park
Barnegat Bathing BeachThe Township maintains a bay beach and currently states that beach badges are not required. Portable toilets are provided seasonally.

Cloverdale Farm County Park
Ocean County's 90-acre Cloverdale Farm County Park at 34 Cloverdale Road preserves a cranberry farm that has operated since the late nineteenth century. It is one of Barnegat's best destinations for nature, photography and quiet outdoor time.
1.4-Mile Nature TrailA self-guided trail winds through cranberry bogs and undisturbed woodland.
Visitors CenterExhibits interpret the natural and agricultural history of the park. Current posted hours are Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., excluding major holidays.

1.75-Mile Nature TrailThe marked trail crosses woodland, rolling sand formations and the park's namesake creek.
Native PlantsThe park supports wildflowers, orchids, wetland shrubs and unusual carnivorous plants.
Trailhead AccessThe parking area connects visitors with approximately 6.5 contiguous miles of the Barnegat Branch Trail through a short connector.

Barnegat Branch Trail
The Barnegat Branch Trail follows the abandoned Barnegat Branch Division of the Central Railroad of New Jersey. Ocean County's long-term trail corridor extends north from Barnegat toward Toms River.
Walk & BikeThe rail-trail offers a relatively level route for walking and bicycling through several Ocean County communities.
Historic InterpretationSigns along the route highlight local points of interest and historical references connected with the railroad corridor.

Getting to Barnegat
Garden State ParkwayThe Parkway is the principal regional highway connecting Barnegat with northern Ocean County, Atlantic County and points throughout New Jersey.
U.S. Route 9Route 9 becomes Main Street through Barnegat and provides direct access to the historic village and many local businesses.
West & East Bay AvenueWest Bay Avenue links the Parkway side of town with Route 9; East Bay Avenue continues from the village to Barnegat Bay and the Municipal Dock.
